Travel Log 4-20: Witches in Fiction Giveaway!

Well folks, you have come into some unexpected largess. Or at least one of you lovelies has.
A few years ago I went into one of my few fangirl  joyfests. I got to go to a Terry Pratchett book signing. Luckily it was a fairly small book shop and so I got to listen to his talk on modern fantasy fiction and stand in line to get a couple books signed. Now being a complete noob in to the book signing etiquette I in fact hadn't brought any of my personal copies to be signed, but rushed immediately upon entering the establishment ran to purchase a couple copies of his discworld series, which I am sure made the booksellers do a happy dance.
What I was not to know at the time was that the book tour that he was on was to be the last for Sir Terry before his early onset Alzheimer's diagnosis.
So while you will pry my personalized copy of Thud from my cold dead hands, I am offering up this to you my wonderful readers-

A signed copy of Hat Full of Sky!!!!!!!!!!!
Signed by Sir Terry himself, in person!!!!!!
Here's a little blurb about the book itself, which is the second in the Tiffany Aching series (and if you haven't ever read The Wee Free Men, or if you have a young girl growing up that you care for you need to check this series out).
From Harper Collins:

A Hat Full of Sky By Terry Pratchett
Available Formats:

A Hat Full of Sky

Something is coming after Tiffany ...
Tiffany Aching is ready to begin her apprenticeship in magic. She expects spells and magic -- not chores and ill-tempered nanny goats! Surely there must be more to witchcraft than this!
What Tiffany doesn't know is that an insidious, disembodied creature is pursuing her. This time, neither Mistress Weatherwax (the greatest witch in the world) nor the fierce, six-inch-high Wee Free Men can protect her. In the end, it will take all of Tiffany's inner strength to save herself ... if it can be done at all.

  1. AHHH!!! ME!!!! MEEEEEEEE!!!! PICK MEEE!!! I'm a follower, Granny IS my favorite story book witch.

    email- sun.moon.earth.and.stars@gmail.com

Oh I hope I win. LOL

  2. Oh MY GODS! I think I just about peed myself. A lot of women would want something signed by Johnny Depp but I'd gladly trade my autographed photo of him for a book signed by Sir Pratchett!

    P.S. You know I'm a follower. ;-)

  3. Also, my favorite fictional witches, as I can't pick just one are Granny Weatherwax, Elphaba Thropp and Luna Lovegood.

Although I have a fondness for the necromancers in the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix and the other witches who live in Discworld.

  4. And... I'm participating in Magaly's blog party. I'm taking a break from working on my post to visit people. :)

    Here's my email.. artful.danni@gmail.com

Sorry for all the comments, I'm so used to everyone having the 'leave separate comments' rule that it's habit at this point.

  5. I've never read this series but it sounds really cute. I'm a total book whore - you should see my bookshelves - and love reading books that are recommended to me.

I don't have a favorite witch but I do have a favorite series where the characters (male and female) have special/interesting abilities. It's the Darkover series by Marrion Zimmer Bradley.

    I'm a follower of you too! =)

  6. I hope everybody entering this giveaway knows that I'll fight them to the death and beyond for this! What, I can't fight them? What do you mean randomly chosen?! Not fair; I saw it first, okay third, but still, I want it more *sigh*

This is such a cool giveaway!

Did you know that Sir Terry is coming to the US in June? Yep, he is the Guest of Honor at NADWCon (http://www.nadwcon.org/) I wish I could go, but I don't know if school and work will allow. I'll taking a teaching summer workshops and they are usually very hectic *sigh*

Okay, for my first entry: I follow and you know my favorite witch is Granny. But that is a given so I'll tell you about a few other faves too: Elphaba, Gandalf, Belgarath, Polgara, Pippa (from Marcia Colette's STRIPPED...) okay I'll stop here.

  7. I've left comments in all of Magaly's super-grande-amazing-ever-so-witty posts and I'm participating in her Witches in Fiction blog party. Muahahahahahahaha (that is my insane laugh, after talking about myself on the third person lol)

  8. @Danni-I'm glad I wasn't the only one who peed on myself a little after reading this one ;-D

  9. My favorite fictional witch is Tiffany Aching, of course.:)
